Why do children sing to remember Sir Edmund Hillary in the villages of the Khumbu in Nepal. It is not for his first ascent of Everest in 1953 with Sherpa Tenzing. In Hillary's words it was "Because Everest was a stepping stone to something far more satisfying" - building schools and hospitals in the high valleys below Everest.
